“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”, so said Roald Dahl. I opened myself to this world of magic, and was so enthralled, enchanted, that it became an inspiration. My project aims to capture these special moments of magic, play with these and help the uninitiated open themselves up to this magic. Using a wide variety of fabrics and techniques, I have tried to literally weave those moments of bewitchment. My translation of magic has taken manifestation in the form of three different fabrics, which originated from different sources and recreated legerdemain of sorts, all in all with the same underlying theme - Magic. Inspired by the movie “The Prestige”, I created a fabric that used the famous trick – now you see me, now you don’t. Invigorating the magic hidden in mundane things, my fabric “Enrapture” tries to explore the hidden experiences of life. And the last of my fabric details our wonderland, the dreamy, mystical place that we relate to; a place with sparkling crystals that brightens up the entire land. With these, my only wish is to bring forth the magic that exists truly in our own world, but is waiting to be discovered.
GEDWEY IGNASIA
"All that glitters, is not gold"

What is more fascinating than wonder lust and fairy dust? They take us to the world of that momentary magic, which is more or less disbelieving for a split of a second. It is an absolute bliss to experience something like that - something so unreal.
Gedway Ignasia was the mark of the dragon rider which shone brightly whenever the rider used magic. Keeping the meaning intact you will find the use of lots of crystals which add gleam to the fabric. Just like the beauty of brittle winter when we hope to see something wonderful in the haze, I have tried to incorporate the shimmering crystals and other materials in a tantalizing manner making the fabric look lustrous and sparkling.
The crystals add a tinge of boldness to the flat background. Gold which has been used liberally too helps bringing out the regality. Like it is meant for the royal blooded only. Exclusivity is a special feature that is brought out from the uniqueness of the patterns.

ENRAPTURE
"The story between."

Enrapture is pure delight. It is joy.
So are the magical moments, which leave us, enchanted for a moment and our memories, engraved. My first collection titled Enrapture will do just the same.  The layers of rich, untwisted organza silk woven with dreamy feathers is enthralling. The fabric is layered and the magic here are the feathers which have been woven with the thread. The simplicity of this exquisite fabric should leave you beguiled.
THE PRESTIGE
"Now you see it, Now you dont'

For those puzzled by the name, this third fabric creation of mine was inspired by the famous movie “The Prestige”. Unabashedly I say this; the popular trick in the movie inspired my very beginning as this small magician-in-guise. Why would it not, when everybody knows how much one loves “the vanishing act” – the disappearing and re-appearing of objects, the wave of awestruck gasps in the crowd and the suave of the magician restoring the vanished object?
Now you see it, now you don’t. That’s the story behind this.
The Prestige was an opportunity to work with the deception concept, the ability to weave magic in the fabrics. With the help of inks having special chromic properties and digital print work, the magic fabric was created that revealed the hidden pattern on application of a trigger. This enables the users to experience the magic on their own and at their whim.
